How To Change Direction of rotation of A DC motor-
When dc motor connected to the supply, the current flows through the armature conductor and the direction of the current is shown in the figure. In this case the direction of rotation of the motor will be in the clockwise direction.
Now If the direction of current flowing in the armature of the dc motor is reversed and the polarity of the field is kept same as before, then the direction of rotation of the motor will be changed and now motor rotate in anticlockwise direction.
In the same way, if the field polarity is changed but the direction of the armature current is kept as before, then the direction of rotation of the motor will also be changed, that is, it will turn anticlockwise.
Additionally, if the direction and field polarity of the current in the armature conductor are changed simultaneously, there will be no change in the rotation speed of the dc motor and the motor will rotate in the clockwise direction.
That is If the direction of rotation of the dc motor is to be changed, either the direction of current flowing in the armature conductor or the direction of field currents must be changed.
That is If the direction of rotation of the dc motor is to be changed, either the direction of current flowing in the armature conductor or the direction of field currents must be changed.
If both are changed then there will be no change in the direction of rotation of the motor and the motor will move like before.
