There was a temple in a village. The temple priest and his wife were devotees of the Lord. Every day the husband and wife would clean the temple, collect the material for worship and provide food to the people who come to the temple. They were both childless.
Whenever the festival of Onam came, they would get sad. The priest's wife cooks a variety of delicious dishes. His hand made Sambar, Rasam, Olan and Avial was very fun.

Children from all over the village would go to his house and get enough food. While leaving, she would give a handful of shakarpuratta (a dish made with jaggery mixed with banana chips) to everyone.
